Bathing is seen as more of a luxury experience rather than a necessity today; showers tend to be quicker and more convenient, and we often forget the many benefits of slowing down and taking our time during the bathing ritual. Beyond simply filling up the tub and soaking in the water, there are ways to boost your bathing experience without taking too much time or effort.
Consider a sensory bath, where you’re encouraged to use your sense of smell and touch to elevate your bath time.
- Set your bathing time for either pre-dawn or post dusk, when there is limited natural light. Avoid using artificial light to illuminate your space; instead opt for candlelight or no light at all.
- Set your bathing water temperature just a little bit warmer than you’re used to or comfortable with.
- Infuse your water with Habibi Essential Bath Soak to boost toning and healing properties for your skin. The scent is also designed to calm your nervous system and allow your body to completely relax.
- Commit to soaking for at least 20 minutes. Sit or lie as still as possible, and allow your body to release. Breathe deeply. Close your eyes to further eliminate the need for sight, and let your sense of smell and touch take the dominant role.
When you’re done, drain the water and pat dry. It’s a good idea to relax immediately after in the form of a nap or a good night’s sleep (particularly if you used the soak with the optional CBD boost), or with minimal stimulation for the following hour.
A sensory bath (taken at least once a week) can help reset your mind and your body, by releasing stress that we tend to acquire and store in our daily lives. Consider making it a part of your regular maintenance routine to help your mind and your body stay clear, healthy and vibrant for all of your days to come.
