Sugar might not always be the best thing to put into your body, but it’s definitely one of the best things you can put on it. Brown sugar in particular is quite beneficial, because it’s soft granulated particles can gently exfoliate your skin and clear away dry and dead skin cells.

And that’s not even the best part.

Brown sugar also has anti-bacterial properties and glycolic acid that can help you get that GLOW. It also moisturizes and conditions your skin, and can help protect it from harmful toxins. Unless you have preexisting irritation or aversion, sugar scrubs are generally safe to use on your body. They’re particularly wonderful for the rough spots: dry patches of skin, particularly on your elbows, knees and heels. You can also use sugar scrub on your hands to help keep them hydrated and supple.

Most skin experts say it’s fine to exfoliate 2-3 times a week, as long as you don’t experience any sensitivity or irritation.
